Landon McKinnis As seen on Shark Tank

From a napkin to a deal with Mark Cuban and Daymond John.

I started with an idea, my own commission checks and no roadmap. Now I help the next person with an idea get there faster, and without getting lied to.

The climb

No outside money at the start. No shortcuts. One step at a time, and no quitting.

  1. A napkin sketchAn idea for a spherical groomer, sketched on a napkin.
  2. A prototype, the hard wayA full year to get it built. I learned exactly how the invention industry works. An early Go Nutz prototype, opened up with the wiring showing
  3. A patentI protected it the right way, with real patent attorneys.
  4. Paid for with my own commission checksI funded it from my sales work, deal by deal.
  5. The Shark Tank stageThe producers reached out to me. Season 16, Episode 17: a deal with two Sharks, Mark Cuban and Daymond John, in Mark Cuban's final season.

  6. Major retailersThe patented product I sketched on a napkin is on store shelves.A shrink-wrapped pallet of Go Nutz boxes ready to ship
  7. Daymond John in my cornerHe's my mentor today, and what I learn from him goes into everything I build.

Who I am

Nobody handed me this. I outworked the odds.

I've worked security, customer service, a cubicle and collections. Then I found sales, and I've been number one everywhere I've sold since. I became the number one commercial skip tracer in the country, tracking down big-ticket equipment and truck fleets for companies like Caterpillar, Case New Holland, Peterbilt and Kenworth. Then I became a top phone salesman and trainer at Angi.

Every commission check had a second job: funding an idea I couldn't let go of. That idea became a patent, then Go Nutz, then a deal with Mark Cuban and Daymond John on Shark Tank, then a product in major retailers.

I didn't have connections or a big check behind me. I had a napkin, a sales habit and a refusal to quit. That's what I teach now: to inventors through Zero to Shelf, and to founders and sales teams from the stage.

If I did it from where I started, you can do it from where you are.
